Tie-Down Knots & Topographical Maps
builds on the fundamentals of Class 1 by teaching students how to secure loads and begin reading the landscape itself.
Through hands-on practice, students will learn practical knots and hitches used for tying down equipment, creating tension, securing loads, and solving common real-world problems with rope.
The navigation portion introduces topographical maps, including contour lines, elevation, terrain features, water, trails, and how to recognize ridges, valleys, and other features before ever stepping onto the ground.
Students will begin learning to look beyond roads and understand what the land is telling them—because sometimes the best route isn’t a road at all.
