Shelter Knots & Street Maps
is a hands-on introduction to two fundamental preparedness skills: working with rope and knowing how to get where you need to go.
Students will learn and practice essential knots used for shelter building, securing tarps, tensioning lines, and general utility while also learning how to use a paper street map as a practical preparedness tool.
We’ll cover map symbols and scale, measuring distance, identifying and marking resources and hazards, planning primary and alternate routes, and why you should decide where you might go in an emergency before you ever need to leave.
The goal is simple: know your knots, know your routes, and build skills you can depend on when technology or normal systems fail.
